Team members are the face of the pier—helping operate rides, assist guests, and maintain a safe, clean environment. The pier’s mission is simple: to provide every visitor with safe, clean, family fun in an amusement park setting. This is an outdoor, high-energy job that requires patience, focus, and a positive attitude even on long, hot, or windy days. You will stand for extended hours, work directly with the public, and play an important role in creating a safe and enjoyable experience for thousands of guests each season.
Steel Pier is a historic amusement park located directly above the Atlantic Ocean on the famous Atlantic City Boardwalk. It is one of New Jersey’s most iconic summer attractions, known for its rides, games, helicopter tours, fireworks, and live events. Participants will experience true American boardwalk culture while living and working by the beach. Outside of work, participants can enjoy the Boardwalk’s free concerts, local festivals, and beach days, or explore nearby East Coast cities—Philadelphia (1 hour), New York City (2.5 hours), and Washington, D.C. (3 hours). Steel Pier promotes cultural exchange through shared housing, international staff gatherings, and community events. Equipment Management: Supply guests with the necessary game equipment, such as rings or balls, and keep all equipment in serviceable condition. Prize Distribution: Award prizes to winning guests and manage any point-based prize systems. Payment Handling: Collect payments for games, provide change, and issue receipts as needed. Booth Maintenance: Keep the booth and game areas clean, organized, and safe for all guests. Rush Hour Readiness: Be prepared for peak times, which can be intense, requiring focus and quick responses to guest needs. Crowd Control: Manage lines and queues to ensure fair access to games and a positive experience for all guests. Promotion and Upselling: Suggest combo deals or promotions to encourage guests to try multiple games, being mindful to upsell without pressuring guests. Physical Stamina: Be prepared to stand for long periods, potentially up to 13 hours, in outdoor conditions, including heat, sun, and wind/ $15.23 per hour
- Retail Sales Associate (Cashier/Demonstrator): r. You will spend most of your shift standing, talking with guests, and demonstrating toys such as bubble blowers. You will help children and families choose toys, shirts, bags, and novelties. You must stay focused, friendly, and ready to follow instructions from managers. You will also lift products and supplies up to 22 kg (50 lbs) when needed. Participants who succeed in this job are outgoing and persistent. You must be willing to start conversations, demonstrate products many times each day, and encourage guests to make purchases in a professional way. You will handle cash and card payments accurately, keep displays clean, organized, and fully stocked, follow pier safety rules, and support a clean, hazard-free environment. Steel Pier expects honesty, courtesy, and respectful communication with guests, coworkers, and supervisors at all times. - Ticket Cashier: Guest Service: Greet guests warmly, provide information on ticket options and pricing, and assist them in selecting the best options for their needs. Transaction Management: Handle cash accurately, make change as needed, and process transactions using the POS system. Payment Processing: Collect payments from guests, including cash, credit/debit cards, and other methods, following secure processing procedures. Inquiry Assistance: Address any questions or concerns guests may have about tickets or wristbands with professionalism and clarity. Work Area Maintenance: Keep your workspace clean and organized for efficient operations, disposing of waste like ticket stubs and receipts. Physical Stamina: Be prepared to stand for extended periods, especially during peak times. Weather Conditions: Work in varying conditions, including sun, heat, and wind/ $15.23 per hour
- Ride Operator: Safety Checks & Operations: Conduct daily safety checks, test ride systems, and secure all perimeter fencing. Ride Operation: Operate attractions per established procedures and provide clear, consistent safety instructions to guests, diligently enforcing all safety rules. Behavior Monitoring: Maintain vigilant oversight, responding quickly to any inappropriate guest behavior to ensure the safety of all guests. Physical Tasks: Lift up to 50 lbs (22 kg), assist children when necessary, and navigate raised platforms or staircases during ride operation. Customer Service: Deliver exceptional guest service with honesty, courtesy, and friendliness in every interaction. Rush Hour Readiness: Prepare for high-traffic periods, which can be intense and require sustained focus and energy. Flexible Scheduling: Availability for evening, weekend, and holiday shifts is required. The schedule is limited before June 18 and after September 1, with full-time hours in between/ $15.23 per hour
- Slingshot – Ride Operator: Safety Checks & Assistance: Perform pre-ride safety inspections, assist guests with harnesses, and ensure all riders are securely seated. Ride Operation: Operate ride controls, provide clear and friendly instructions, and guide guests on how to enter and exit the ride safely. Passenger Monitoring: Carefully observe riders and their movements to ensure they follow safety protocols and are not in any danger. Calm Under Pressure: Address any disruptive behavior and, if necessary, take appropriate steps to remove disorderly guests. Cleanliness & Maintenance: Maintain a clean and organized workstation, ensuring the surrounding area is free from hazards. Physical Stamina: Be prepared for long periods of standing, repeated lifting (including children up to 40 lbs / 18 kg), and continuous engagement. Weather Adaptability: Work comfortably in varying weather conditions, including heat and sun, with a positive attitude/ $15.23 per hour
- Groundskeeper: Flower Pot Maintenance: Ensure all flower pots throughout the park are clean and free of debris. General Cleaning: Maintain cleanliness across all park areas, including those outside your designated area. Restroom Maintenance: Clean restrooms regularly, including sweeping and mopping floors, cleaning toilets, walls, and sinks, and restocking hand towels and soap on a frequent basis. Trash Removal: Remove trash from designated areas or wherever needed and maintain a clean dumpster area. Task Checklists: Follow a detailed worksheet specific to each designated area to ensure all cleaning tasks are completed thoroughly. Glass and Mirror Cleaning: Clean windows, glass partitions, and mirrors throughout the park as needed. Outdoor Food Areas: Clean and maintain all outside food areas to provide a sanitary dining experience for guests. Equipment and Inventory Movement: Assist in moving equipment and inventory items throughout the park as needed. Equipment Storage: Keep the equipment storage room neat, clean, and organized, returning all materials and equipment used to designated areas. Physical Stamina: Be prepared to stand for extended periods and engage in physically demanding tasks. Weather Conditions: Work outdoors in varied weather, including sun, heat, and wind, requiring resilience and adaptability/ $15.23 per hour
