Anchorage Inn of York is a beachfront hotel located in the charming coastal town of York, Maine. This picturesque and popular summer destination draws visitors from across New England. Situated close to Portsmouth, NH, Portland, ME, and Boston, MA, the inn offers a unique opportunity for J1 participants to work by the ocean, enjoy stunning views, and be part of a vibrant summer atmosphere.
Weekly working hours: avg. 32 per week

Conditions:
- Upper Intermediate to Proficient level is required.
- Must arrive on time and start working according to DS dates.
- Kitchen Support job responsibilities include, but are not limited to: food preparation, cooking, dishwashing, cleaning, and other tasks assigned by the manager. This position may involve some cutting or chopping of fruits/vegetables, using a toaster for items such as bread or muffins, or using other cooking methods/utensils. Must be okay with any tasks assigned that are in the kitchen. Must be able to stand for the duration of your shift and lift up to 18kg. Additional cleaning tasks may be assigned by the kitchen manager.
- Host, Cashier, and Take-Out are responsible for using our computer system to take orders, close out open guest checks, greet guests, seat at specific tables following the seating chart, make change for guests, answer guest questions about the menu/restaurant, and be a smiling face that represents the restaurant well to the general public! An outgoing personality and willingness to talk with our guests are essential. Past experience as a cashier or working in a restaurant is a plus. Please note that this is not a serving position.
- Cafe Attendant: Daily set up of continental breakfast, making coffee, baking muffins, cooking eggs, ringing up guest orders, using the iPad to calculate totals. Cleaning up after breakfast and preparing for lunch. Doing dishes using an automated machine and by hand for larger items, loading, rinsing, sorting, stacking/organizing all dishes. Applicants must be okay working with sanitizers and cleaning detergents. Also, it will be necessary to work with sharp objects such as knives and other cutting tools, and hot items such as toasters and ovens. This position may involve some cutting or chopping of fruits/vegetables, using a toaster for items such as bread or muffins.
- Front Desk and Concierge Clerk: Check in hotel guests, perform transactions, answer guest questions, speak over the phone, and perform any other tasks required by the supervisor on duty. Also, you might be required to set up and take down the continental breakfast. This position requires students to have excellent English skills.
- Paid hourly training. Please note that it is not guaranteed that you will receive 32 hours per week during the initial training period and during the last week of the program.
- A uniform shirt will be provided. Participants must bring khaki pants/knee-length skirt/knee-length shorts and closed-toed/ closed heeled shoes. Leggings and denim are not permitted. Sneakers are fine.
Housing and Transportation:
- Housing on-site at a cost of $125 per week. A refundable deposit of $200 is required upon arrival.
- Walk to work. Can use a bicycle for going to different places.
