Cultural Activities for Rocky Mountain Gateway Work & Travel Participants Park Tours and Hikes – Explore the stunning trails and landscapes of the Rocky Mountains with guided tours that teach about the area’s unique geology, flora, and fauna. Wildlife Spotting and Photography – Discover local wildlife, from elk and bighorn sheep to rare birds, with tips on photography and spotting areas led by local guides. Stargazing Nights – Join evening gatherings to view the incredible night skies over the Rockies, free from city lights and ideal for seeing constellations and meteor showers. Local Artisan Markets and Crafts – Visit nearby markets and craft fairs to learn about regional artisans and take part in craft workshops like wood carving, leatherwork, or bead-making. Cultural Heritage Days – Experience the rich Native American and cowboy history of the region through storytelling, museum visits, and local historical site tours. Campfire Nights and Storytelling – Unwind with fellow participants over campfires, sharing stories and roasting marshmallows while learning about the area’s legends and folklore. Free Horseback Ride – Enjoy a free horseback ride into Rocky Mountain National Park before July 1, courtesy of your host business and the on-site stables. Rocky Mountain National Park Visits – Enjoy access to explore the vast landscapes, scenic viewpoints, and endless outdoor activities within the park. Trips to Estes Park – Take the free shuttle (July-September) to Estes Park downtown for shopping, family-friendly activities (carting, roller coaster, golf, museums), and visit the famous Stanley Hote

Weekly working hours: avg. 30h +  per week

Start Date/End Date: June 1st –  June 16th until September 20th – 30th;

Conditions: 

  • Advanced English required;
  • The employer will select your primary position for the summer. You may be cross-trained and scheduled to work in different areas of the business, including the Gift Shop, Grocery area (which includes a coffee shop and ice cream counter), Restaurant, and Kitchen. Positions may include retail associate, grocery clerk, cashier, host, server, busser, dishwasher, and prep cook.
  • Gift Shop & Grocery Duties Duties may include, but are not limited to: Operating cash registers and handling U.S. currency Assisting customers with purchases Scooping ice cream and serving coffee beverages Stocking, receiving, pricing, and restocking merchandise Creating and maintaining displays Cleaning public areas, including restrooms, windows, floors, fixtures, and removing trash You must be outgoing, friendly, and attentive to customers while working with the public. Restaurant & Kitchen Duties Duties may include, but are not limited to: Greeting and seating guests Taking and delivering food orders Preparing and cooking food Clearing, cleaning, and re-setting tables Refilling beverages Washing dishes and assisting with food prep Maintaining cleanliness and sanitation in food prep and service areas Emptying trash, wiping counters, and restocking supplies Additional tasks may be assigned by management as needed.
  • Tipped Positions Server – $12.14/hour + tips Busser – $12.14/hour + tips Host – $14.00/hour + tips
  • Non-Tipped Positions Kitchen Staff / Kitchen Help / Dishwasher / Prep Cook – $15.16/hour Grocery Store Clerk / Cashier (including coffee shop or ice cream counter) – $15.16/hour
  • Training will be provided upon arrival; 
  • Uniforms will be provided for restaurant employees only( $10).Restaurant staff: please bring a black t-shirt, black pants, and black close-toed, non-slip shoes;
  • Gift shop staff: Business casual (nice slacks and button-up shirt, comfortable dress shoes);

Housing and Transportation:

  • Housing is provided at a cost of $350 per month; 
  • A housing deposit of $300 is to be paid upon arrival;
  •  Walking. The cabins are next door to Rocky Mountain Gateway;
