San Francisco has been a well-known tourist destination for decades. The city is abundant with restaurants, tours, museums, shops, and historical attractions. There are an endless array of activities to choose from such as a tour of the legendary penitentiary of Alcatraz, sample Dungeness crab in a local bistro, drive through a gargantuan Redwood tree, or ride the cable cars for a panoramic view of the city. San Francisco can be cool and foggy during the summer.

Ghirardelli Chocolate Company in San Francisco is a world-renowned chocolate brand offering a fast-paced, customer-focused work environment in a famous waterfront location. Students gain hands-on experience in food service, retail, and guest service while working as part of a dynamic team at one of San Francisco’s most iconic destinations.

Weekly working hours: avg. 32h per week

Start Date/End Date: June 3rd – 24th until September 1st – 30th

Conditions: 

• An advanced English level is required.
• Must arrive on time and start working according to DS dates.
• Participants rotate between retail, food service, cashier, and concession stand duties across multiple locations, including Ghirardelli Square and Oracle Park.
• Chocolatier:  Customer service, retail sales, cashiering, food and beverage preparation, stocking merchandise, unloading deliveries, and maintaining clean and sanitary work areas. Team members also lift and carry products, handle transactions, follow waste-sorting rules, and assist in high-volume locations
• Training will be provided. But may not have full shifts during training. 
• Drug test required.
• One free ice cream product per shift, plus unlimited beverages while at work.
• Employer supplies an apron, hat, name tag, and bow tie. Students must bring a few button-down short or long-sleeved white shirts,  black loose-fitting long pants past the ankle (no jeans), a black belt for your pants, and black, non-skid, closed-toe shoes.

Housing and Transportation:

• Must arrange own housing; leads will be given.
• Transportation – Students can use public transportation or bike to and from work.
