
Atlantic City is a popular summer destination in New Jersey, offering participants the opportunity to live and work steps from the ocean in a lively resort and urban environment. The city features America’s first Boardwalk, beaches, casinos, nightlife, and free citywide events throughout the summer season. Participants will also interact with people from around the world in a diverse, international setting. Atlantic City’s location provides easy access to major U.S. cities, including Philadelphia (1 hour), New York City (2.5 hours), and Washington, D.C. (3 hours). On days off, participants may explore museums, memorials, historic landmarks, and well-known attractions such as Lucy the Elephant and the Absecon Lighthouse. Excellent public transportation makes travel accessible and affordable. This placement offers a cultural experience that combines coastal living, American city life, and travel opportunities, allowing participants to explore multiple aspects of U.S. culture during their program.
Boardwalk Billy’s is a walk-up frozen beverage stand located on the Atlantic City Boardwalk along the Atlantic Ocean. The business operates in a lively, high-traffic beachfront area that attracts visitors throughout the summer season. Working in this setting allows participants to experience traditional American boardwalk culture, which includes casual food and drink stands, seasonal crowds, street entertainment, and daily interaction with visitors from across the United States.
Weekly working hours: average 32 per week
Start Date/End Date: June 1st- June 30th until September 1st-30th
Conditions:
- Advanced English.
- Must be able to start working according to DS start dates.
- Bar Back: Stocking and maintaining bar supplies, assisting bartenders with basic drink preparation, keeping bar areas clean and organized, and properly disposing of waste. Setting up and breaking down the bar, monitoring inventory, and alerting management to supply needs. Provide friendly, helpful support to guests and the bar team, assist in training new staff when asked, and follow all health and safety standards. Additional tasks may involve dishwashing, cleaning, and maintaining bathrooms and high-touch areas.
- Training is paid at the hourly rate. International adult participants will be trained in several different positions. Training may take up to two weeks. Participants may not receive full hours until the training period is complete.
- Participants and employees may be subject to pre-employment, random, reasonable-cause, and/or post-accident drug testing.
- The employer provides a uniform. Participants must purchase black, slip-resistant, close-toed shoes.
Housing and Transportation:
- Must arrange own, leads will be given;
- Typical transportation for the area is walking or biking.
