Architectural Design – Bayside, NY

The host company is an architecture firm in Bayside, NY dedicated to bringing creative design and high-quality construction together to produce architecture envisioned by their clients. The principal architect founded the firm on the principle that good architecture combines craft, detail, materials, and form for the purpose of giving our clients what they want. The firm’s clients’ needs, wants and desires give shape to all our designs.

Program Description:

Reporting to the Project Manager responsible for the individual project, the Junior Architectural Designer will be responsible for assisting in Master Planning, Site Planning, and Building Design exercises utilizing 3D Modeling, and Digital Presentation Packaging. Additional duties include:

• Utilize early-stage design skills in concept design, schematic design, and design development
• Prepare program and schematic proposals, and project layouts and develop designs in 3D using Revitor and other 3D modeling software for client review/approval.
• Perform design computations, and specifications, compile data, and elementary architectural assignments.
• Assist with the preparation of construction drawings and construction detailing for contractors.
• Review building codes to ensure that the design complies with the minimum legal standards.
• Assist in the construction administration phase by reviewing shop drawings and creating a master log of the project submittals.
• Prepare finished material sample boards, physical models, and graphic presentations for client approval.
• Assists the design team on projects from the Pre-Schematic Phase through Construction Documents.

Applicant Qualifications:

• To apply for the Internship program, applicants must be full-time university students with academic focus in Architecture studies OR have graduated less than 12 months from the internship begin date.
• To apply for the Trainee program, applicants must hold Architecture degrees and have at least 1 year of professional work experience related to the degree, OR be career professionals of 5 or more years in this field
• Excellent English skills and an outstanding communicator
• Possess effective oral and written communication skills
• Prior architectural experience is a plus
• Creative, fast learner with a passion for architectural design and willing to learn and grow
• Strong AutoCAD and SketchUp skills
• Revit skills are a plus
